40 Years of MA Furniture Design at Bucks — Conference 2019

Rachel Hutchinson was invited to speak as part of 40 Years of MA Furniture Design at Bucks, held at The Tomlinson Centre, London.

Her presentation took the form of a case study of her work at Chandlings Primary School, exploring how early engagement with design and making supports creative, physical and emotional development.

Drawing on hands-on teaching and extracurricular programmes, the talk considered how pupils develop design thinking through direct engagement with tools, materials and process — positioning making as a fundamental way of understanding the world.
