Concentric Oak Studies

Material Study — Autumn 2025

CNC carving process, concentric oak studies, 2025

A series of carved oak studies exploring concentric form, surface and repetition.Developed through CNC carving and hand finishing, each piece translates pattern into material, allowing the grain and structure of the timber to emerge through process.

Circular and elongated recesses create a shifting surface, balancing precision with the irregularities of the material. The work sits within an ongoing enquiry into how digital processes can be guided by hand, shaping objects that move between control and variation.
