Growth I & Growth II

Oak Seating Sculpture
Fresh Air Sculpture Exhibition 2026

Growth I & II are part of an ongoing series exploring the relationship between natural growth and human making. Formed from fallen Somerset oak limbs, the works follow the inherent structure of the tree, shaped through careful intervention rather than imposed geometry.

The branches are first explored through 3D scanning and digital modelling, allowing compositions to be tested before being refined by hand. In the final works, the natural form is preserved, with knots, junctions and surface traces left visible as part of the material’s history.

Each piece sits between sculpture and furniture — holding a tension between organic form and human intention.
