Easel I & II

Adjustable Easel — Oak / Macassar Ebony

Guild Mark 377, 2004

This work is developed around a bespoke winding mechanism that allows the easel to adjust in height. Structure and movement are integrated within the form, rather than applied as separate elements.

The geometry draws on the stepped landscape of the Pewsey Downs, translated into a sequence of planes. Constructed in Oak and Macassar ebony, with plated brass fittings, the work brings together timber, metal and process to form a controlled and articulated structure.
