Zero X Cabinet
Ripple Sycamore, Brass, Glass, Gold Leaf
Guild Mark 279
This cabinet develops from an early investigation into corrugated plywood, where flat material is cut and formed to generate structure. A circular door is machined with concentric grooves, allowing it to fold into a continuous surface.
The exterior is finished in gesso and gold leaf, emphasising the geometry of the form. Inside, radial segments of ripple sycamore extend this language, supported by a bespoke brass hinge developed to carry the weight of the door.
The piece explores how structure, surface and ornament can be integrated into a single constructed form.
