Telescopic Table & Turning Chair
Commissioned for Quenington Library, Gloucestershire
The Telescopic Table and Turning Chair are kinetic furniture pieces developed for Quenington Library, designed to facilitate conversation through movement and use. Made from solid ash using steam bending and laminated construction, the table structure incorporates a telescopic mechanism and a the chairs have a rotating pedestal base that allows the table and chairs to expand and contract in response to how they are used.
The work explores how engineered structure and material behaviour can shape interaction, creating a shared spatial experience that shifts between intimacy and openness.
